On Saturday September 21 and Sunday September 22, 2019, the Musée de l’Homme, Paris takes part in European Heritage Days and opens its doors for free to the general public to tell us more about our ancestors and our world, through tours, and other entertainments.
For European Heritage Days 2019 the Musée de l’Homme welcomes us on Saturday September 21 and Sunday 22, 2019. Documentary, workshop and conference are planned for free all weekend long for curious people’s greatest joy.
On the menu of European Heritage Days 2019 at the Musée de l’Homme:
- Entertainment - Décrypt'images - Saturday September 21 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Feasts, banquets, picnics, candlelit dinners... How does cinema look at meals, their preparations, their exchanges they imply? With an abstract from a cult movie from the 60's, explore the theme of the "Je mange donc je suis" exhibition.
Duration: 20 minutes, starting from 12 years old. 25 persons max. Meet at the Centre de ressources Germaine Tillion, 1st floor.
- Entertainment - A l'improviste Galerie de l'Homme
The museum team will present a theme in the Galerie de l'Homme, the permanent area of the museum, in relationship with diet.
Duration: 20 minutes, limited number of places. Galerie de l'Homme, in front of the anthropologic bust collection.
- Entertainment - Tous les Goûts sont... à la bibliothèque! - Saturday September 21 and Sunday 22, 2019 at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
This year, on the menu of European Heritage Days at the Yvonne Odon library of the Musée de l'Homme, a talk about ancient and modern books about milk and honey for people who are curious about stomach and have a fooding brain! As an appetizer, and before the next major exhibition of the Musée de l'Homme, the Yvonne-Oddon library offers you to discover the fooding or reasonnable looks of scientists about diet for over a century. Varied worries as show the documentary collections covering diet and ethnology without forgetting gastronomy and cook books.
Duration: 30 minutes within limited number of places. Yvonne Oddon library.
- Entertainments - Ma Science Animée - Sunday September 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Discover the theme of the "Je mange donc je suis" exhibition with a friendly and family entertainment inviting you to explore the world's cuisines. An interactive activity where children will travel around the world of flavors. A playful and instructive entertainment to discover the exhibition about diet and food.
Duration: 20 minutes within limited number of places. Starting from 6 years old.
Tickets to withdraw 30 minutes prior to the entertainment. Centre de ressources Germaine Tillion, 1st floor.
- Show - Les Futurs de l'Alimentation - Sunday September 22, 3 p.m.
Come and take part in a theater-forum session about tomorrow's food. Four actors will play sketches created by students from the Comité Science-fiction and invent future worlds while relying on scientific knowledge.
Duration: 45 minutes, starting from 10 years old, within limited number of places.
Tickets to withdraw 30 minutes prior to the show. Jean Rouch auditorium, 1st floor.
In addition to these entertainments, European Heritage Days are the occasion to visit the museum devoted to Man. Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going? As many questions the large 2500-sqm Galerie de l'Homme answers.
Note that the Musée de l'Homme is very coveted and you should expect to queue for quite a while.
