Mahmoud M’Seddi deposes Sami Bouattour from Brun bakery, last year’s winner, and wins the contest for best baguette in Paris 2018. From now on, pop to Paris 14th arrondissement, instead of the 13th last year, his bakery is set at 215 Boulevard Raspail.
He also wins €4000 and the honor to supply the Elysée palace for the whole year.
This morning, at the Syndicat des Boulangers, exactly 181 artisans dropped off their baguettes to win the big prize and the title of best baguette in Paris 2018. To do so, dropped products should be between 55 and 65 cm long and weigh between 250 and 300 grams, their salt content should weigh 18 grams for one kilogram of flour.
All in all, only 138 baguettes met the required criteria and have been tasted and compared. The 15 present judges needed 5 hours to taste and debate. The jury featured experts such as Franck Thomasse, president of Grand Paris bakeries, Guillaume Gomez celebrity Elysée Palace kitchen chef, Olivia Polski, assistant Paris City commerce as well as Sami Bouattour, winner 2017.
