With about 27,000 guests per day (in 2018), both Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Studio parks are the first tourism destination in Europe. Shut since mid-March because of the Covid-19 epidemic currently spreading across the world, the group faces heavy financial losses. In France, the part-time working process set up by the government enabled to save the temporary show business workers employed for shows of the cancelled seasons such as the Marvel super-heroes season.
Managers, visitors and cast members are all wondering when the most visited theme park in France will reopen.
Puy du Fou founder Philippe de Villiers says that “The French President has decided over the Defense Council that the re-opening of tourist sites and theme park in green zone will be on June 2nd”. If for now, Île-de-France is still in red area, it is still possible to plan the reopening of Mickey Mouse and Minnie’s theme park by the end of summer.
By the way, this is not pledge of guarantee, but on the group’s website, it reads : “The Holiday [with an arrival starting 15 July 2020 or after] you have booked with us is confirmed” but it could be subject to change if the covid-19 pandemic health situation is to get worse and if we were to face a second wave and be re-confined by then.
If you had booked a stay during the lockdown or prior to July 14, 2020 repayment conditions give you two choices: “you can choose to receive a refund for the amount already paid for your holiday, or to receive a voucher for the same amount.”
Abroad, the parks of the entertainment leader are gradually reopening such as the Shanghai Disneyland that partially reopened on May 11th. Among the health measures implemented, body temperature checked at arrival, mandatory facemasks, limited number of visitors in the park…
While waiting for the theme park to reopen, let Disney magic come to your home:
Disneyland offers virtual versions of the rides during lockdown
As the entire world is on lockdown because of coronavirus, Disney Parks, Disney parks’ global YouTube channel, offers a little piece of magic by inviting you to discover virtual versions of their main rides. The occasion to “have a ride” without leaving your couch.
Coronavirus: relive Disneyland Paris magic from your home
Despite coronavirus, children and adults can be amazed by Disneyland Paris magic from their home… And for good reason, the Parisian theme park invites them to discover a new and free platform called Disneyland Paris at home providing games, entertainments and other videos to develop creativity. The park also offers the possibility to discover - or rediscover - parades and shows on their social networks: the best way to wait and enjoy the atmosphere of the resort before being able to return to the park.
