Local lockdown in France, the 19 departments involved, 3 new areas in lockdown

As 60% of the French were expecting a third nationwide lockdown, the government seems to be willing to open another way. After giving curfew a chance, the executive now favors local restrictions. After instating weekend lockdown in some cities, Jean Castex announces several local lockdowns in 19 departments in France.

This lockdown is instated for at least 4 weeks, starting Friday March 19 midnight. Three other departments are added to the 16 already involved, starting March 26, 2021: Nièvre, Rhône and Aube. Even though schools remain open, non-necessary stores must close. Trips are limited within a 10-km perimeter, excluding time limit. Furthermore, curfew has been delayed to 7 p.m. in the entire country because of summertime switch.
