As it happens each year at the same time, electro music fans are gathering in Paris to dance to beats played by Techno Parade floats. But because of the health crisis, and social distancing measures, organizers of the electro event announce it is canceled in 2020. Techno Parade is postponed to 2021.
"In April, we hopes we could sustain the edition 2020, but the gauge of main gatherings remain unknown for September. Moreover, players of the electro stage and partners are hit by the economic consequences of the health crisis. The context is not favorable to climb up on floats" Technopol president Tommy Vaudecrane said to the AFP.
"Until August 21, only open-air events under 5,000 people are allowed with strict conditions. Protests in the public space, such as Techno PArade, are limited to under 10 people. Comprehensible, these health measures yet highly jeopardize the ecosystem of culture and events, and compromize a summer season that is usually enriching for the public, and profitable for artists and show business technicians" Technopol says in a release.
"It is with a heavy heart that Technopol must cancel this moment of great celebration. Techno Parade is postponed to 2021, when we will be able to party in an environment safer for everyone's health" the organizing association adds.
Officially launched in 1998 by Technopol, Techno Parade has been canceled once before. It was in 2001 after the World Trade Center attacks in New York.
For the record, every year, this event brings together dozens of hundreds of electro music fans in the streets of Paris. Last year, about 200,000 of them showed up.
Technopol yet hopes to get back with an electro event without a parade in Paris by the end of the year. In order to support the musical sector and DJs badly hit by the health crisis, Technopol launched earlier in June in France, United We Stream, described as the biggest digital club in the world.
