Here's a surprise from the Musée des Arts Décoratifs to all fashion lovers missing sketches and dresses because of the coronavirus pandemic.... The house of Dior offers you to discover a digital version of the record-breaking exhibition, Christian Dior, Couturier du rêve, that ran in 2017 at the MAD Paris to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the designer house (and that attracted some 700,000 visitors).
A lovely guided video to enjoy for free on Dior's YouTube page (you can find a video we made at the end of the article too) and inviting you to discover sketches, gowns and other works of art that inspired the designer, the latter also was a gallery owner and an art lover. An exhibition highlighting the designer's work who manage to reveal the regal part of every woman's body, offering them a tremendously modern and sophisticated silhouette on a platter. Even though his creations are reserved for the elite, they went beyond the private sphere of the bourgeois fashion and became symbols that the musée des Arts Décoratifs gives pride of place again in a video.
Christian Dior revolutionized the post-war fashion, he breathed extravagance into the too conventional dresses of the women from the 50's and launched a large business where couture is an art. With the lovely will to highlight the contemporary aspect of his work and of his successors, the museum strikes again with this little surprise that will not go unseen. Let's go and discover fashion and Christian Dior, friends, shall we?
