  • Le mystérieux antiquaire de la Chapelle expiatoire
    October 18 and 19, 1.40pm to 5pm
    Session every 20 minutes
A strange antiquarian has taken up residence at the Chapelle expiatoire in Paris. An avid collector, he possesses many rare and ancient artifacts. In the wrong hands, one of them could prove fatal. That's where Mysteria Ingenium, the famous agency for extraordinary affairs, comes in, recruiting the young public and their families to recover the mysterious object. It's not going to be easy, though, as this antiquarian is holed up in the Chapelle expiatoire for a very good reason! He's extremely interested in a relic. The Chapelle expiatoire was built on the site of the former Madeleine cemetery, where many of those guillotined, including Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette, were buried.
It is precisely a relic linked to one of these historical figures that interests him. But who owns it now? And what are they likely to exchange it for? Visitors will have to barter, haggle and negotiate with a series of characters as curious as they are zany. Become a relic hunter for an afternoon, and discover the history of this monument and the historical characters who inhabit it. Do you think you'll be able to swap a potato for diamonds?

The Chapelle expiatoire celebrates the memory of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette. At Louis XVIII's request, architect Pierre-François-Léonard Fontaine built aneo-classical monument between 1816 and 1826, with a strong Romantic dimension. It stands on a former cemetery where many of those guillotined during the Revolution, including Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette, were buried.

A fun and instructive outing for the whole family! Don't delay!
