The Science Festival is back in Paris and across Île-de-France from October 2 to 12, 2026. In Moissy-Cramayel (77), a slate of activities is planned to introduce science in a playful way to people of all ages.

Calling all science enthusiasts! The Fête de la Science is making a comeback across much of France. From October 2 to 12, 2026, museums, libraries and media libraries, and even universities, will host a wide array of events—from laboratory tours and science cafés to live performances and hands-on experiments, plus guided strolls through the many science villages.

During the Fête de la Science, thousands of scientists, teachers, cultural mediators and librarians share their enthusiasm and curiosity for science, technology and innovation with the public through a wide range of events. Every year, over a million visitors take advantage of the Fête de la Science to learn more about this discipline.

So, what’s on the menu for kids and grown-ups in this edition 2026? In Paris and in Île-de-France, plenty of great plans not to miss. If you live in the Seine-et-Marne, head for example to the town of Moissy-Cramayel. Located about 31 km from Paris, the Moissy-Cramayel area is bordered by several towns, including Lieusaint, Combs-la-Ville, Évry-Grégy-sur-Yerre, Réau and Savigny-le-Temple. Throughout the year, the commune of Moissy-Cramayel takes part in numerous cultural events. This autumn, the focus shifts to the Fête de la Science, with activities to discover notably at the Médialudothèque La Rotonde.

  • My plate, my planet.

At the crossroads of health, food safety and nutrition, environmental footprint, agricultural production, innovation, and socio-cultural factors, our diet is more than ever a social and political issue. Drawing on the work of about thirty scientists, the exhibition highlights the limits of the current model, the diversity of food systems, and the interdependence between the various sectors involved. It also underscores the importance of our consumer choices, as well as the collective decisions—particularly the public policies to be implemented—and the necessary engagement of a plurality of actors. It opens up pathways toward practices better suited to sustainability.

  • Carpology and the archaeology of meals

This workshop puts kids in the shoes of real archaeologists tasked with reassembling a meal from a bygone era. From excavation bins, they sift the soil to uncover seeds, plant remains, and fragments of amphorae. They then examine these clues under a magnifying glass to identify and sort them. By reconstructing amphora forms and using their typology, they discover which foods were stored and consumed. Cross-referencing this data with carpology, they piece together a coherent ancient meal. The goal is to show how archaeologists interpret the past from fragments.
