The Fête de la Science 2025 unveils an exciting program in Moret Loing et Orvanne, in the Seine-et-Marne département. This 35th edition, taking place from October 3 to 13, 2025, explores the theme of "Intelligence(s)" in all its forms. The 2025 edition of the Fête de la science takes place from October 3 to 13, 2025 in mainland France, and invites us to discover all forms of intelligence, and to rethink what it means to be intelligent, beyond human boundaries.
Established in 1991, this free national event has become an essential meeting place for researchers and the general public alike. In this charming new commune in the southern part of the Seine-et-Marne département, on the edge of the Fontainebleau forest, we have the opportunity to discover one of the jewels of French research.
Moret Loing et Orvanne offers a particularly appropriate setting for celebrating science. This ancient medieval and royal town on the banks of the Loing, famous for its 12th-century ramparts and immortalized by Impressionist painter Alfred Sisley, is home to EDF Lab Les Renardières, located in Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne in Seine et Marne, one of the three research centers of Électricité de France.
The 2025 theme of "Intelligence(es)" has a particular resonance in this context. Every day, the news highlights both the achievements and the dangers of the spectacular development of artificial intelligence (AI). This edition takes us beyond AI to explore intelligence in all its facets: from the behavior of cells to the capacities of plants, from the cognitive prowess of animals to the emergence of new technologies.
For the Fête de la Science, come and discover the day-to-day work of EDF's R&D researchers to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
A speaker will take you on a tour of some of EDF Lab les Renardières' emblematic laboratories, the EDF Group's largest research center.
You will have the opportunity to discover the scope of the work carried out by EDF R&D researchers on the themes of energy savings and comfort in the home, the networks of today and tomorrow, electricity storage, electric mobility, renewable energies and nuclear power.
The Science Festival stays true to its core principle of accessibility. Entrance is completely free, welcoming visitors of all ages and backgrounds. These "Research Fridays" offer special opportunities for the public to explore and engage with ongoing scientific work. An expert guide accompanies visitors to reveal the behind-the-scenes of energy research.
This initiative is part of EDF Lab’s longstanding tradition of opening its doors through Research Fridays, giving the public a chance to learn about the group's research priorities. These visits provide insights into how EDF’s innovation teams are advancing energy technology.
Beyond the technical aspect, this visit highlights how Moret Loing et Orvanne combines its rich historical heritage with cutting-edge innovation. This new commune in Seine-et-Marne, built from the merger of several villages including the historic Moret-sur-Loing, demonstrates how history and modernity can coexist seamlessly.
To take part in this special tour of the EDF Lab research center at Les Renardières during the Science Festival 2025, simply show up on site. This unique visit on October 10th offers a wonderful chance to understand the energy challenges of tomorrow in an exceptional setting, just a few kilometers from Paris, in the heart of the beautiful Seine-et-Marne region.
