Good deals for ages 13-25: Studio 13/16 opens its doors at La Gaîté Lyrique.

From Studio 13/16, we already know its must-see space for teens, housed inside the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. Now, the Gaîté Lyrique is opening its own studio on its walls. The concept remains the same: to foster creativity and artistic practice among adolescents, all in a totally free and accessible approach.

Designed for young adults aged 13 to 25, the Studio establishes itself as a laboratory of artistic creation and reflection. Through workshops, with hands-on sessions led by artists in residence, an original lineup of workshops and collective artistic experiences, it enables 13- to 25-year-olds to explore the artistic field. In total, there are more than 400 m² dedicated to encounters and artistic mediation. "The principle of the studio is freedom", explains Selma Toprak, the Centre Pompidou’s Deputy Head of Publics, "young people can come for several hours or just five minutes—the space adapts as much as possible to this audience".

On site, there is an exhibition space, a labograph aimed at school groups, a photographic studio equipped with all the necessary gear, and most notably, workshops imagined by artists with open access. For the first semester of the Studio at La Gaité Lyrique, the theme centers on self-representation. These workshops, completely free, are then freely accessible at the Studio, under the guidance of on-site mediators.

In addition to this short‑term program, a resource hub helps young adults explore new techniques. "Our aim isn't to teach them a single technique, but to guide them through an experimental journey", explains Junior Barona, the project lead at the Studio. So, every week, don’t miss Tech Wednesdays, where you can discover screen printing, engraving... alongside an artist or a craftsman.

The Studio 13/16 at Gaité Lyrique is open to the public for free and running continuously during the school period on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and during school holidays (Zone C) from Tuesday to Sunday, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The full schedule is posted on the venue’s Instagram page.
