A free day to attend sheep shearing with the family in Paris.

Every year, in the spring, the shepherds take part in the traditional shearing of their sheep to trim the wool for warmer days. So, the wool festival and shearing are celebrated at various spots in Île-de-France: at the Rambouillet National Sheep Farm, at the Parc de la Villette during the now-famous transhumance, or at the Parc Georges-Valbon in La Courneuve, for its Wool Festival 2026.

That Wednesday, April 15, 2026, we’re also planning to take part in the shearing day festival in Paris, held at the Parc Floral, in the 12th arrondissement, as well as at the René Binet Farm, in the 18th arrondissement. Let’s go!

The day's shearing schedule:

At the René Binet Farm

• 10:30 am: meet-and-greet, conversations and an introduction to the craft of Thomas Baffault, a professional shearer
• 11:00 am: a live shearing demonstration
• From 10:00 to 12:30 and from 14:00 to 17:00 (drop-in and ongoing): a discovery workshop on the wool supply chain and an introduction to spinning

• 2:30 PM: meet, chat, and an introduction to the craft of Thomas Baffault, a professional shearer
• 3:00 PM: sheep-shearing demonstration
• From 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (open and ongoing): discovery workshop on the wool value chain, with an introduction to spinning
• Meet at the Parc Floral’s unusual garden (located in the eco-pasture prairie area)
