The open farm in Saint-Denis is the last working farm on the outskirts of Paris. As well as being a place to raise awareness of agriculture, it's also a place to learn about nature in the city, where you can come and pick or buy seasonal fruit and vegetables in a short circuit. At the start ofautumn, the first cucurbits, squash, pumpkins and other vegetables are ready to be picked.
From October 24 to 31, 2026, we’re marking the pumpkin at the Saint-Denis open farm: the Jack'O Lantern, the squash variety carved each year for Halloween, has been harvested. They’re waiting for children, invited to doodle on them with markers during a pumpkin carving workshop. The facilitators will then scoop out and hollow the pumpkins. All that’s left is to take your carved pumpkin home, slip a candle inside, and await the night of Halloween.

Pick out your pumpkin, hollow it out as a family, sketch the shape you want, and an instructor will carve it for you. Then take it home and light it after dusk with the candle provided. A spine-tingling moment guaranteed!
Then head over to meet the farm animals.
The Saint-Denis Open Farm is open to local residents and city dwellers, who can come and buy the vegetables produced on site at the farm market. It's also possible to visit the farm freely and discover the animals that live there.
