The Fééries de Chantilly is reviving the International Fireworks Competition on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the Chantilly Racecourse, in Oise (60), a short train ride from Paris. Three teams from Spain, France, and China will go head-to-head for a night of spectacle, and the audience will pick the winning display. Suffice to say, we’ve already penciled the date into our calendars.
Behind this new gathering lies a charming story. For the 40th anniversary of the famed Nuits de Feux de Chantilly, organizer Dreams Stars Events is reviving the international pyrotechnics contest with a refreshed format and a new name. The setting remains the same: the racecourse lawns facing the estate, with more than 12,000 spectators expected under a sky set ablaze.
The idea is simple: each country unveils an original creation, choreographed to carefully chosen music, aiming to win over the audience and lift the 2026 trophy. Spain (Europapirotecnia), France (France Artifice) and China (Pyro Liuyang) take turns lighting up the sky, each bringing its own craft and signature.
The evening unfolds in several stages, from early afternoon to the prize ceremony. Here is the announced schedule (for information purposes and subject to change):
We love the idea of letting the audience have the final say. After three very different acts, everyone leaves with a favorite, and the vote turns the evening into a little friendly competition. Worth noting: the contest continues even in the rain; only winds exceeding 54 km/h could lead to a cancellation.
Access is straightforward from the capital to Chantilly. The easiest option is by train, with the TER departing from Gare du Nord or the RER D to Chantilly-Gouvieux station, after which the racecourse is about a ten-minute stroll. By car, the A1 highway serves the estate directly, with both paid and free parking available on site.
For tickets, bookings are made in advance via the billetterie officielle (See Tickets, Fnac or Ticketmaster), with several categories to choose from: lawn in free seating, chairs, panoramic grandstand, or the Golden Square. Entry is free for children under 6 on the lawn, and hearing protection is advised for the little ones. One small detail to note: pets are not allowed on the site.
Here’s our take: a superb late-summer outing to look forward to, perfect for families or friends who love fireworks and open-air performances. Arrive early to soak up the musical ambience and the food offerings, then settle in when night falls. It’s also a chance to rediscover the Chantilly estate, one of the crown jewels of heritage just a stone’s throw from Île-de-France, with all the visitor information you need on our dedicated page for the Château de Chantilly.
Also worth a read: in the same vein, Val-d'Oise is hosting its own fireworks competition with the International Festival of Fireworks at the Enghien-Soisy Racecourse, coming a week later. And for more ideas, check out fireworks at the heart of France's castles and monuments in Île-de-France.
