Flonflons, lanterns and fireworks ... It's impossible to miss the Fête nationale on July 14th, the French national holiday that brings the whole country to its feet, especially the Paris region! In Paris, the festivities reach new heights with the military parade on the Champs-Élysées and the spectacular fireworks display from the Eiffel Tower. All around the region, popular balls take place, notably in fire stations, while towns and villages light the fuse for their own celebrations on the eve of July 13. It's one of those famous days when the whole of theÎle-de-France region is transformed into a party zone: from torchlight processions to brass bands, fireworks displays and concerts, there's something for everyone to celebrate the Fête nationale in their own way, and always with fervor!
Saintry-sur-Seine, a pretty town inEssonne (91) on the banks of the river, is one of the towns that perpetuate this tradition, transforming itself for the evening into a veritable open-air stage.
Following the prefectural decree published this Wednesday, July 8, 2026, and in the face of a heatwave and heightened fire danger, the National Day festivities in Saintry-sur-Seine have been cancelled. More details here.
