The towns of Méry-sur-Oise and Mériel in Val-d'Oise (95) are scaling back part of the National Day 2026 celebrations due to the heat wave.

Flag of the tricolor on their cheeks, a lantern in hand, and a craving to party running in their bones? No doubt, the National Day is fast-approaching! Every July 14, France lights up the sky—literally and figuratively—with its explosive mix of parades, popular dances and fireworks. And this year again, the Val-d’Oise (95) isn’t planning to stay in the Eiffel Tower’s shadow!

HEATWAVE ALERT — In line with the July 9 prefectural order, the fireworks planned for National Day have been canceled. The towns of Méry-sur-Oise and Mériel will still go ahead with the celebration. The park opens at 6:00 p.m. A republican picnic, dancing, and percussion start at 6:30 p.m. A community dance from 8:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. To prevent any risk of fire, lantern distribution is also canceled. Alcohol consumption (beer or wine) is permitted only within the park boundaries. Strong spirits are not allowed. The park will be closed to the public that day until 6:00 p.m. for preparations.

The towns of Méry-sur-Oise and Mériel are gearing up to host a festive evening on Monday, July 13, the eve of the public holiday, in the bucolic setting of the park of the Méry-sur-Oise castle. Bring your singing voices, your picnic baskets, and your best dance moves! Each year, the traditional program features a communal dance and a fireworks display. A National Day celebration done to the letter.

National Day 2026 program for Méry-sur-Oise and Mériel:

Public dance: dance and revel well into the night.

Fireworks: a spectacular sky‑lit finale to cap off the evening.
