Once the holiday season is over, the city of Paris invites you to drop off your Christmas tree at one of the many collection points in the capital until January 20, 2026!

No sooner has your Christmas tree settled into your home than it's already time for it to go... To avoid ending up with a pile of trees in the streets of the capital, the city is setting up a special service from December 26, 2025, to January 20, 2026, allowing you to drop off your Christmas tree and give it a second life! It's a fun and easy way to recycle. All you have to do is find the collection point closest to your home on the city hall website!

Your Christmas tree will then be shredded and reused in Parisian green spaces, "by gardeners in the form of mulch and spread at the foot of flower beds and on paths"." This helps to reduce the appearance of weeds, limit water evaporation and encourage the development of underground micro-organisms that improve soil life," explains the City of Paris. A good deed that will clear the clutter in your living room, if you can't keep the tree for next year.

There are 183 collection points throughout the city, often in parks and gardens. Please note that your tree must be deposited without bags, decorations, or paint in order to be recycled! Last year, nearly 110,000 trees were given a new lease of life in the capital's gardens.

If you forget the date, don't panic, the city says that "you can put your tree out at the same time as the green-lidded 'household waste' bins in your building." A household waste collection truck will then pick it up, but it must be less than 2.5 meters tall.
