Looking for an affordable Christmas gift idea? San and her team’s ceramic painting workshop, near Bonne Nouvelle, invites you to add a splash of color to an everyday object. For €35, you’ll leave with a piece of ceramic decorated by you. No drawing skills required.
San and her team welcome you to their workshop in the Bonne Nouvelle neighborhood, a space dedicated to botanical arts and ceramics. Around the table, the pieces are waiting to be brought to life with color. The ceramic artists show you the brushes and glazes, and explain how color reacts on clay. Then it’s time to let your imagination run wild.
Start by choosing your piece, made and fired in France: an egg cup, mug, bowl, small plate or bud vase. Geometric patterns, flowers, initials or a freehand design—every piece is unique. For two hours, San and her team guide you as you choose your colours and apply the glazes, at your own pace. It’s a peaceful moment, with your hands busy and your mind at ease, just as enjoyable on your own as with friends.
At the end of the workshop, you leave your creation with the ceramicists. They apply a glaze—a transparent glaze—and fire it in their kiln at 1,000°C. You can pick up your piece within 7 to 15 days.
As for the design, San and her team will help you choose a simple one and pair the colors. The glazes change color in the kiln, making for a lovely surprise when you pick up your piece. On site, the shop and drinks served at the counter extend the moment of escape.
At €35, this workshop makes an inexpensive, meaningful Christmas gift for a creative friend, a curious loved one or a parent who enjoys treasure hunting: an introduction to ceramics and a piece to keep. It can be purchased on its page or given as a Wecandoo gift card, with dates available year-round.
