For the 42nd edition of the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days), the French capital is offering a whole host of events to suit all tastes and interests! If you're a fan of machinery, head for the Eiffel Tower. Want to learn more about horses? You'll find what you're looking for at Versailles! For mostly free visits, take advantage of the weekend of September 20 and 21, 2025 throughout the Ile-de-France region.
For fans of the Middle Ages, head to the Tour Jean-Sans-Peur in Paris's 2nd arrondissement for a plunge into medieval Paris. Built at the height of the Hundred Years' War, it is one of the last perfectly preserved traces of the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy in Paris. Its magnificent staircase, topped by a sculpted vault unique in France, and its five floors make it an exceptional place to (re)discover the Middle Ages. An experience made all the more unique by the fact that relics from this period of the past are relatively rare in the capital. The Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) are the perfect opportunity to conquer this relatively unknown Parisian monument!

On September 20 and 21, 2025, come and discover the Jean sans Peur Tower, a medieval jewel in the heart of Paris, the only vestige of the great palace of the Dukes of Burgundy and a rare example of civil architecture!
Owned by the City of Paris and opened to the public in 1999 by a team of enthusiasts trained in medieval history and archaeology, the Jean sans Peur Tower will hold no more secrets for you!
Built for the Duke of Burgundy Jean sans Peur between 1409 and 1411, the tower bears the name of its patron, a powerful prince who wished to materialize in stone his seizure of power over the king. To this end, he had a very high tower built, served by a sumptuous princely staircase, finished with a sculpted vault unique in France.
During these European Heritage Days, the team at the Tour Jean sans Peur will be delighted to welcome you and give you all the keys you need to understand the monument, as well as details on all aspects of its architecture!
Visits are free (with a contribution of €2.50 per person), with access to the whole tower and its permanent exhibition on history, architecture and daily life in the late Middle Ages, as well as to two exhibitions on hygiene in the Middle Ages and Rue Réaumur, industrial and commercial architecture (exhibitions presented until December 28, 2025).
Access limited daily from 10am to 6pm, to 1 hour and 40 people at a time throughout the monument, including the temporary exhibition rooms ("Hygiene in the Middle Ages" and "Rue Réaumur"). LAST ADMISSION AT 5.15PM.
