For the latest edition of the Journées du Patrimoine in Paris, we're pushing open the doors ofSaint-Laurent church in the 10th arrondissement! Typical of the flamboyant Gothic style, this church on Boulevard Magenta doesn't go unnoticed.
Yet few Parisians have ever pushed open the door. The Journées du Patrimoine are the perfect opportunity to do just that. What's more, theSaint-Laurent church has put together an attractive program for the weekend of September 20 and 21, 2025.
Choir, Notre-Dame des malades chapel, keystones and imagery in paintings and stained glass... A journey through the centuries, from the 15th to the 21st, not to be missed! And a great opportunity to discover this beautiful church built on the capital's north-south axis, on an ancient Roman road linking Senlis to Orléans. Founded at the very end of the 5th century, the church was located outside the capital's walls, next to a monastery.
Under the Second Empire, following the construction of the Boulevards de Magenta and de Strasbourg, the church was extended by one bay and its facade destroyed, then rebuilt in neo-Gothic style by architect Simon-Claude Constant-Dufeux between 1863 and 1867. A pediment in enamelled lava was added in 1870 by Paul Balze.
Discovering the capital's hidden treasures is the aim of the Journées du Patrimoine 2025. A visit to Saint-Laurent church is a great family outing. And of course, it's free!
This is a self-guided tour of the church. Numerous labels and documents give an idea of its history and architecture. A QR code leads to a guided tour published by Art Culture et Foi.
