For the 42nd Journées du Patrimoine, the Swedish Institute in Paris is offering guided tours of the building that houses it: the superb Hôtel de Marle. Join us on Saturday September 20 and Sunday September 21, 2025 to discover this architectural gem!

The Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) are an opportunity to push open the doors of some legendary sites, some of which are exceptionally open for the occasion. For a whole weekend, visitors are invited to (re)discover the history of these places, and to take a deep dive into France's heritage.

A little corner of Sweden right in the heart of Paris, the Swedish Institute offers a wide range of exhibitions, film screenings and other cultural activities throughout the year, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in this Scandinavian country we know so little about.

And for the 40th edition of the Journées du Patrimoine, held on Saturday September 20 and Sunday September 21, 2025, theSwedish Institute is highlighting another aspect of its heritage: the building in which it is housed! The latter, the sumptuous Hôtel de Marle, is a magnificent building dating from the late 16th century, acquired over 50 years ago by the Swedish state to house theSwedish Institute. On the occasion of the Heritage Days, it invites you to discover its secrets!

With its painted ceiling, grand staircase and Philibert Delorme-style inverted hull framework, this is a building of exceptional architecture, fascinating history and sublime beauty! And why not take the opportunity to stop off at the Fika coffee shop, serving Swedish specialties.

The Journées du Patrimoine 2025 program at the Institut Suédois :

  • Guided tours of the Hôtel de Marle
    Saturday, September 20, 2025 - 2:00 pm ⤏ 7:00 pm | Sunday, September 21, 2025 - 2:00 pm ⤏ 7:00 pm

    The Hôtel de Marle, a late 16th-century architectural gem acquired by the Swedish state over 50 years ago, features unique architectural details such as its grand staircase, painted ceiling and inverted hull roof "à la Philibert Delorme". Guided tours are available.

    Guided tours every half-hour between 2pm and 7pm (last tour at 6:30pm).
