Since it opened in 1967, the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature has sought to document man's relationship with nature over the centuries, from Antiquity to the present day.
The rich collection of ancient, modern and contemporary works of art on display, constantly added to by the owners of the"Musée de France" label, includes naturalized animals and inspirational elements that make this museum, located in the heart of the Marais district in the Guénégaud and Mongelas mansions, a kind of reproduction of the animal world in its environment.
Curious visitors will discover naturalized animals from Asia, Africa and America; hunting weapons, paintings and many other objects.

Annette Messager and Harry Nuriev
For the first time in her career, Annette Messager’s work is explored through the animal figure, a vital presence in her practice since the 1970s. Through these forms, the artist probes our emotions, our impulses, and our relationship to humanity. More than 80 works unfold across about fifteen rooms, tracing a thematic path where major installations, iconic pieces, and new works engage in dialogue with the museum’s collections.
Also to be found in the museum courtyard is an installation by Harry Nuriev—Artist and Designer of the Year at Maison & Object—blending art, environment and design.
