As every year, the Fête de la Nature returns in May to invite us to slow down and to cast a new light on the living world that surrounds us. In 2026, the event marks its 20th anniversary and runs from 20 to 25 May across France, and, of course, in the Val-de-Marne (94). Five days of free activities, open to all audiences, to explore the wildlife, the flora and the biodiversity through walks, workshops and encounters with experts and passionate enthusiasts of life.
The need for nature may never have felt more concrete than it does today, and the Festival of Nature has understood this well. This year, living-world themes sit at the heart of the program: we head out to meet the birds, amphibians, insects, and plants that colonize the banks of the Marne, the parcs and the natural spaces of the department. Val-de-Marne has the practical upside of offering, just a stone’s throw from Paris, protected natural habitats of remarkable richness: the Marne’s slopes, the Bois de Vincennes, green corridors... so many playgrounds that are perfect for this week of discovery.
The 2026 program is particularly geared toward the theme of water and biodiversity, featuring several events along the Marne’s riverbanks, focusing on floods and inundations, and the relationships between plants and insects. A wonderful chance to see these landscapes from a different angle—landscapes we often move through without really stopping.
Some activities are free to attend, while others require advance registration, notably the nature walk along the Marne hills available via ExploreParis. We recommend checking on a case-by-case basis before you go. To view the full schedule of events in Île-de-France, head to the Fête de la Nature full program which lists all activities by department. Also remember to reserve your spot for activities that require it.
This event is open to families with kids as well as curious minds of all ages, to nature lovers and to beginners who have never yet paused to watch a butterfly or listen to the frogs of the Marne. No need to be an expert: that’s precisely the spirit of the Nature Festival — welcoming everyone, without pretension, to share in the joy of all living things.
To dive deeper into Val-de-Marne’s nature and heritage, take a look at Rendez-vous aux Jardins 2026 in the 94, happening over the same weekend. And if you’d like to broaden your explorations to other departments, the Fête de la Nature in the Yvelines 2026 also has a great lineup.
We hope you enjoy your walk and the free events! For even more great ideas, take a look at our complete guide to Fête de la Nature events all over France.
