A weekend of activities awaits you for the 2026 Heritage Days in the Paris region on September 19 and 20. Here’s what’s planned for the occasion!

This year again, the Fontainebleau Castle opens its doors to curious visitors for a weekend, on the occasion of the Heritage Days 2026. Don’t miss these lively days in the castle and its park, September 19 and 20.

The 800-year-old château has seen a succession of the greatest kings, princes and dukes of France and Europe. The historic monument was a "family home"to the kings of France, in the same way as the Château de Rambouillet, the Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye and the Château de Versailles.

The Château de Fontainebleau, which became an imperial palace after the French Revolution, was refurbished by Napoleon I, and features the only surviving Napoleonic throne room. It continued to be used by kings and emperors until the reign of Napoleon III and Eugénie!

Today, the Renaissance-style château and its grounds are popular with tourists, who come to admire the palace's 1,500 decorated and furnished rooms, as well as the various exhibitions on display. Events and celebrations throughout the year give visitors the chance to discover the palace in a whole new light.

In September, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days ) give us the opportunity to enjoy this exceptional monument and its treasures. Discover the activities and workshops planned for this weekend of free visits.
