The Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) take place this weekend, September 16-17, 2023, in Paris and Île-de-France. Every year, this cultural event invites us to explore our heritage. For the occasion, many museums, monuments and châteaux are getting in on the fun! But the Journées du Patrimoine is also a rare opportunity to discover places that are usually closed to the public. Such is the case of one of Paris's most famous high schools.
During the Journées du Patrimoine 2023 in Paris, you'll be able to explore the historical treasures of the Lycée Henri IV. This school, renowned for its educational excellence, opens its doors to you to discover its listed buildings.
The Lycée Henri IV stands on the site of the formerAbbey of Sainte-Geneviève. At the crossroads of the medieval and Baroque worlds, you'll discover the Oratoire, the medal cabinet and the immense library of the Génovéfains, mythical rooms from theformer Abbaye Sainte-Genevièves . These historic rooms, dating from the 12th to 18th centuries, take us back in time!
