On the occasion of Heritage Days 2026, on September 19, the renowned fashion photographer Frank Horvat’s studio-house will be open to the public. Based in Boulogne-Billancourt, it invites visitors to explore half a century of photographs and archives, presented by the artist’s own daughter. An unmissable event for fashion enthusiasts.

The Heritage Days 2026 offer a rare chance to step into France's most private and best-hidden spaces. In the world of fashion, ateliers, studios and other dedicated museums are a boon for sewing enthusiasts. During this exceptional weekend, guided tours reveal the inner workings of luxury craftsmanship, the history of the great fashion designers, and activities that bring together art and fashion.

You might think that these institutions are mainly concentrated in Paris, the fashion capital of the world, but think again! Some spots are exceptions to the rule, off the beaten track. In the Île-de-France region, for example, several ateliers work in tandem with fashion houses.

This is also true of the Studios Frank Horvat, housed in the photographer’s former home in Boulogne-Billancourt. A towering figure in fashion photography, photojournalism and a pioneer of digital imaging, Frank Horvat left behind an eclectic body of work spanning the late 20th and early 21st centuries. His reputation went international in the 1960s, when he broke the codes of fashion photography and revitalized the genre. Since his death in 2020, the artist has left a rich trove of photographs and archives, carefully preserved in his studio, tucked into his atelier-maison, a large black building that resembles an inverted hull of a boat.
