Heritage Days 2026: explore the King's Small Stable and its Sculpture Gallery

Published by Cécile de Sortiraparis · Updated on August 27, 2026 at 09:10 p.m.
Housed in the King’s Little Stable at Versailles, the Gallery of Sculptures and Casts sits hidden away. This little-known, unusual museum awaits you on September 19, 2026, for Heritage Days.

Facing the Château de Versailles, the Grand Stables and the King's Small Stables stand side by side. The latter were completed at the end of the 17th century: they were led by the Chief Equerry and served, among other duties, as a training school for the king’s pages. It was thus a prestigious place, access restricted to many!

Nowadays, this Petite Écurie is better known as the Sculpture Gallery and the Moulages, a special reserve housing ancient works, and also the Center for Research and Restoration of the Museums of France. Curious about this place? Take advantage of the Heritage Days to visit!

Indeed, the Petite écurie opens its doors to the curious on Saturday, September 19, 2026, for the new edition of Heritage Days. During this special weekend, Parisians and residents of Île-de-France can discover a wealth of historic and cultural sites like this across the region. Take a look at the Petite écurie's visiting program and book your spot without delay!
