Here it is! The Heritage Days 2026 invite you to mark the weekend of September 19–20 in Paris and Île-de-France. Each year, this European cultural event invites us to rediscover our heritage through free tours and new and exclusive activities at the heart of the museums, monuments, castles or even places usually closed to the public.

As you'll have gathered by now, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days ) are all about good deals, originality and wonderful discoveries. So don't miss out on this opportunity to unlock the mysteries of the Paris region 's finest treasures!

There is no French text to translate in the provided snippet—the content appears to be placeholders within the HTML tags. If you share the actual French lines, I can rewrite them into natural, idiomatic English (keeping the HTML structure for Heritage Days).

If you'd like to take advantage of the program close to home , or to find out more about the treasures of the Ile-de-France departments, this time we're taking you to Milly-la-Forêt, in theEssonne region, to push open the doors of the Maison de Jean Cocteau, the famous French artist, filmmaker and writer.

It was in this home-museum that the playwright wrote most of his work. Listed as a Monument Historique in 1969, the 17th-century Maison du Bailli, built in the Louis XIII style, extends over 2 hectares, including gardens, a vergé and a wooded park.

  • A dig at Le Cirque dans les étoiles

In his small traveling theatre, a surprising character, flung into misadventures that make little sense, is slowly forging an upside-down universe. If he doesn’t stumble at the start, this scatterbrained figure at the foot of the wall invites us to glimpse his feats and his frailties with both delicacy and mischief. He is brilliantly accompanied by a multi-talented musician who keeps trying to keep his feet on solid ground. A good kick in the pants to recognize that, upside down, everything is probably clearer!

Participation requirements: A garden ticket is required to attend performances (€3 full price, free under certain conditions) — No booking required | Special rate

    Timings: Saturday, September 19, 2026 — 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM, 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM | Sunday, September 20, 2026 — 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM, 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM

  • Conference "Cocteau the Draftsman"

A meet-and-discussion with Dominique Bert, hosted by David Gullentops.

The exchange between the two experts will shed light on this art that Cocteau practiced throughout his life, an expression of his wide-ranging talents.

Participation requirements: Reservation required. Free for visitors who have already purchased a ticket to visit the House or the Garden — Reservation required | Special discounted rate — https://billetterie.maisonjeancocteau.com/

    Schedule: Saturday, September 19, 2026 — 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM

  • Jean Cocteau's Musical Saturdays - A Passion for Wagner

In the garden of the House where Cocteau welcomed his closest friends, the concert program will bring Wagner, Nietzsche and Liszt into dialogue.

Marion Tassou, a soprano trained at the National Conservatoire of Music in Lyon, will be accompanied on piano by Jamal Moqadem, a graduate of the CRR in Rueil-Malmaison and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London.

This Wagner-Liszt program will feature a transcription of Tristan und Isolde, a Lieder on a Victor Hugo poem, and other melodies to discover. A final musical Saturday to recall Cocteau's admiration for Wagner, who, in his view, embodied Germanic spirit in art, while the poet defended a simple, direct French art that he opposed to the Wagnerian sublime.

Participation terms: Limited availability — Reservations required | Special rate — https://billetterie.maisonjeancocteau.com/

    Schedule: Saturday, September 19, 2026 — 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM
