The Musée de l'Ordre de la Libération opens its doors wide for the upcoming weekend, on Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th of September, in celebration of the Heritage Days 2026. It’s a chance to discover a museum that Paris residents don’t know as well as it deserves. A place rich in history and memory, the Musée de l'Ordre de la Libération is dedicated to the resistance and the liberation of France during the Second World War.
Situated within the Hôtel National des Invalides, another iconic historical site in the city, the museum tells the story of the Order of Liberation. Established by General de Gaulle in 1940, it highlights the heroic acts and sacrifices of those who resisted the Nazi occupation.
The permanent collection showcases artifacts, documents, uniforms, and photographs that recount the daring deeds of resistance fighters and Free French combatants. Visitors can also explore moving stories of men and women who courageously faced adversity to defend their country’s freedom and honor.
On the occasion of the Heritage Days 2026, visit this moving site that invites you to delve into the dark chapters of World War II, while celebrating the courage and resilience of the French people in their struggle for freedom. A call not to forget the lessons of the past and to safeguard the memory of those who fought for a better world.
