For the 2026 Heritage Days, Sorbonne University reveals its secrets at the Pierre and Marie Curie Campus through a special program planned for the weekend of September 19–20, 2026.

The Journées du Patrimoine return for the rentrée 2026 to the delight of culture and heritage enthusiasts! These exceptional days, which take place on 19 and 20 septembre, offer curious visitors the opportunity to dive into France's cultural and architectural heritage. It's a unique chance to explore historic sites and monuments that are often closed to the public for most of the year. This year, the Campus Pierre et Marie Curie of Sorbonne Université opens its doors to you.

Named after famous scientists and Nobel laureates Pierre and Marie Curie, the campus has been a cradle of innovation and education for over a century. From historic classrooms to state-of-the-art laboratories, the campus is an intoxicating blend of ancient and modern, illustrating the never-ending quest for knowledge and excellence.

The 2026 Heritage Days program at Sorbonne University — Pierre and Marie Curie Campus:

Discovering an exceptional educational heritage: Sorbonne University's zoology collection
Inherited from the former collection of the Faculty of Sciences at the Sorbonne, SU's zoology collection stands as the tangible legacy of more than two centuries of teaching animal biology in Paris. Recently, the collection has been reinstalled in a museum-style room that also doubles as a classroom. On the tour, this contemporary cabinet of curiosities will be showcased through the lens of heritage enhancement.

Tour of the botanical collection room
Discover the botanical collection room at Sorbonne University.

This room has been set up thanks to decades of teaching botany equipment gathered over the years. It features teaching models (both current and historical), resin-embedded samples, dried specimens of mushrooms, flowers, fruits, and seeds, as well as wood samples, fossils, and herbariums.

Geology walk on Sorbonne University's Pierre and Marie Curie Campus
A broad range of natural rocks and geological materials have been used in building and renovating Sorbonne University's Pierre and Marie Curie campus.

The goal of this geological stroll on campus is to explore these rocks, their origins, the fossils they may preserve, their ages, and more.

Along the walk, some facets of Sorbonne University's architectural heritage will also be highlighted.
