The University Library of Paris 8, completed in 1998 by architect Pierre Riboulet and outfitted by designer Albert Gilles-Cohen, is described as "a bridge-like building teeming with bookish birds."

The binding, stitch by stitch
The Heritage team of Plaine Commune’s media libraries invites you to an evening dedicated to the making, preserving, and restoration of the old book. Open to anyone 12 and older, this free event requires registration and features two main moments.
After a welcome buffet at 6:00 p.m., participants will join an introductory bookbinding workshop led by designer Aleksandra Surmak. There they will discover the traditional gestures and tools of the binder — such as the bone folder and the couching needle — and will craft their own handmade notebook, selecting papers and colors.
The evening will continue with a tour of the library’s heritage stores, which house more than 100,000 documents dating from the 13th to the 21st centuries, including items from revolutionary confiscations. Librarians will present a selection of rare and restored works from the Ancient Collection.

Show “The Taboo Epic: The Imaginaries of Birth,” by Cie Hoc Momento
Project led by Louise Roux (concept, writing and performance) and Isabelle Guidon (percussion).
The show stems from a research project funded by MSH Paris Nord as part of its annual call for proposals.
Drawing on a collection of testimonies from women, men and caregivers, Louise Roux and Isabelle Guidon seize the metaphors that constitute a shared imaginary, staging them and weaving them into music to ask this question: how can we translate the everyday heroism of birth? Can we create an epic of childbirth that helps families approach this experience more calmly?
Followed by a convivial closing and a discussion about the show.
