National Artists’ Days 2026: a weekend at the heart of art in Paris and Île-de-France

Take part in the new edition of the National Artists’ Days, an event that lets us meet creators and tour their studios in Paris and the Île-de-France region. Mark your calendars for October 2–4, 2026.

The Maison des Artistes is staging a major open-house weekend across artists’ studios, art centers, schools and creative spaces nationwide: Friday 2, Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October 2026. Art lovers and the curious can meet local artists.

During this second edition of the National Artists’ Days, more than 1,000 events are planned across France’s major cities. In Paris and the Île-de-France region, there are more than 560 visual-arts events, many of which are free and open to the public.

The aim of this weekend is to introduce you to contemporary designers, close to home. Visitors can chat with the artists, admire their work and learn more about their training paths. It's even an opportunity to take part in creative workshops, orbuy a work of art to redecorate your home. La Maison des Artistes also aims to shed light on the day-to-day life and difficulties that artists can regularly encounter.

Jack and the Beanstalk: Growing a mural in three days

For three days, Lika Kato and Mellvioline will craft a new mural on the gate and wall of 38 Rue Henri Chevreau in Paris’ 20th arrondissement. The previous mural, painted last February, will be replaced by a Jack and the Beanstalk-inspired artwork.

Walt – JNA – Open doors to Walt, a creative hub

Walt is a multidisciplinary space welcoming artists, associations, and ESS organizations. Located in the former Disney premises, Walt is a project led by Liveo, a temporary-urbanism operator. On National Artist Day, Liveo will exceptionally open Walt to the public, giving resident artists a chance to share their worlds by opening their studios.

The Le 6ème, Ateliers d’Artistes association joins National Artist Day, a nationwide arts event organized by La Maison des Artistes and supported by the Association des Maires de France and the Ministry of Culture. For three days, in their studios, member artists will showcase the breadth and variety of their creations—testimonies to seasoned artistic journeys that have long enriched the neighborhood’s cultural life—and invite guests, across disciplines: painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, installations. Come see their works, meet the artists all weekend, and enjoy the events scheduled throughout the festival—readings, openings, signings, etc.

A performance conceived as a village of the planet, where cultures meet around a common flame. Drawing on African gathering nights around the fire and beneath the talking-tree, SOIR AU VILLAGE brings all generations together with music, storytelling, songs and dance. From the opening, a display of traditional instruments invites visitors to explore the sounds and cultures of the artists in their creative space, Lab’Oratoire. At the heart of the evening, HUMANITÉ, a theatrical tale blending narrative, music, rhythms, poetry, and dance, speaks to differences, transmission, and fraternal bonds. Open Doors at 6b are a highlight of the venue’s life and its link to the region. They reveal the diversity of artistic, craft, social, and ecological practices developed at 6b and foster connections among residents, locals, professionals, and partners. The day offers studio tours, exhibitions, performances, screenings, concerts, DJ sets, karaoke, and a pop-up shop. Through this event, 6b aims to make creativity accessible, support artists, and strengthen ties with residents of Saint-Denis and Plaine Commune. The Open Doors help elevate the territory’s cultural profile while affirming 6b as a space for creation and meeting.
Artist Caroline Vauvert-Valarcher Studio - Studio visit and Villatoro stained glass demonstration

On the occasion of National Artisans Day, I open the doors of my studio in Asnières-sur-Seine for a guided exploration of the Villatoro technique, an eco-friendly alternative to traditional stained glass, sans lead or solder. Through a live demonstration, I’ll show how glass and natural materials like cellulose pulp or wood fiber transform into my creations. It will also be an opportunity to discuss my artistic approach, shaped by questions of biodiversity, transformation, and trace, and how I work—from material choices to the final piece. A convivial moment to discover a little-known craft and the philosophy behind it.

As part of National Artist Days 2026, and continuing the ENCAJADOS exhibition shown in Belleville in May, we present a group show exploring the theme “Immigration Without Borders.”
The exhibition invites artists with immigrant backgrounds to reflect on contemporary society, their place as creators within it, and the migration and adaptation journeys, identity tensions, cultural crossroads, and intimate and collective stories that arise from these experiences. The aim is to highlight sensitive, unique artistic approaches where art becomes a space for reflection, memory, dialogue, and social transformation. It also seeks to transcend geographic, cultural, and symbolic borders to reveal stories that celebrate diversity of journeys, identities, and belonging.
