Old postcards, stamps, painting, thread and recycled objects cross paths in POSTAL ART, the new exhibition by Susana Machado presented at the Galerie Couleur du Jour, in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. From September 15 to October 10, 2026, the artist is developing a series of paintings and mixed-media works around travel, correspondence and real or imagined destinations. The exhibition is open daily from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, except Mondays, at 2 rue Bouvier.
For this series, Susana Machado shapes the space of her canvases with old postcards and stamps from destinations both near and far. She engages with both sides of the cards—front and back—the images, the traces of writing, and the places they evoke.
These various elements are linked by graphic paths that weave through the works. Strokes of paint or threads, words, signs, brush marks, and imprints made from recycled objects create connections between the images. The artist thus crafts journeys that don’t necessarily follow actual geography: the voyage unfolds right within the canvas.
Maps aren’t just keepsakes from journeys. In Susana Machado’s works, they seem to talk to each other through winding lines that can lead to peculiar or enigmatic messages. Daydreaming and humor are among the resources the artist leans on in her creative process.
POSTAL ART carries on a body of work where color engages with materials embedded in the painting. This blend of media lets the artist build visual narratives from elements already carrying a story: a printed destination, a stamp, a few words, or the old image of a place become fragments of a new composition.
The exhibition runs throughout the National Artists' Days, held on October 2–4, 2026. On this occasion, Susana Machado invites visitors to Galerie Couleur du Jour to join mixed-media and printmaking workshops for adults, whether they’re beginners or already have an artistic practice.

The Galerie Couleur du Jour is located at 2 rue Bouvier, Paris 11th, just steps from Rue des Boulets on line 9. For this exhibition, visitors can view the artworks from September 15 to October 10, 2026, between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM, closed on Mondays. The National Artists Days, held on October 2–4, also give adults interested in the visual arts the chance to combine a gallery visit with an artist-led workshop.
As is her habit, the artist Susana Machado once again delivers a series bursting with color, pairing materials with her paint.
This time, true to the name of the exhibition , she toys with composing the canvas space using vintage postcards and stamps from distant—or near—lands, playing with the front and back and with destinations.
The works interrelate through winding pathways, brush or thread lines, words or symbols, traces of brushes or recycled objects, inviting the viewer on a journey.
These improbable, imagined paths sometimes yield quirky or enigmatic messages, yet they always lead to dreaming and to humor, which, the artist says, lie at the very heart of her creations—a pursuit aimed at recovering a lost happiness and at what remains to be created.
