Heritage Days 2026: discover the astonishing Créteil Cathedral this weekend

In France, there are more than a hundred Catholic cathedrals. Some are centuries old, others more modern... None resemble the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Créteil. The Notre-Dame de Créteil Cathedral is an unusual and unexpected place, one that stands out in the Val-de-Marne area.

This cathedral is taking part in Journées du Patrimoine 2026, on the 19 and 20 September coming up. It’s a chance to visit this architectural curiosity, which opens its doors to everyone during this cultural weekend.

The Créteil Cathedral is a modern creation: in 2010, a distinctive architectural project was launched to rethink the site, the welcome for visitors, and its place in the landscape. In 2013, the old building was demolished and construction began. In 2015, the new cathedral was inaugurated and officially consecrated.

  The Cathedral of Créteil will open its doors, and the welcome team, together with members of the Chemin des Arts en Val-de-Marne association, will greet you for a self-guided or guided tour of the cathedral and its cultural space, where the diocesan heritage exhibition awaits.
