During these essential Heritage Days, some museums and monuments attract big crowds. But other venues deserve a look as well, such as lycées. Hosting many students for ten months a year, certain Parisian high schools are full of secrets and boast distinctive architecture. The case in point is Lycée Chaptal.

Nestled in the 8e arrondissement of the capital, just a stone’s throw from the Batignolles, the Chaptal High School was founded by the educator and playwright Prosper Goubaux. As for its name, it references the French scholar, chemist, physician and politician Jean-Antoine.
