With the return of September, we know it won’t be long before we witness the biggest cultural event to kick off the school year: and so, as every year, the European Heritage Days are back on the weekend of September 19 and 20, 2026.
In Paris and throughout the Île-de-France region, this is an opportunity to (re)discover the heritage close to home, with cultural sites, museums, artists' studios, churches, ministries... But it's also a chance to explore lesser-known heritage sites, the capital's secret spots and little-known places that are well worth a detour on this unique weekend of the year.
In the 18th arrondissement, the Atelier Rozsda, located inside the Bateau-Lavoir, opens its doors to the public on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September 2026: for visitors, it’s a chance to explore the Bateau-Lavoir, where Endre Rozsda, a Franco-Hungarian painter, settled in 1979. Since the early 1900s, the site has also functioned as an artist’s studio and has hosted some of the era’s great names, such as Max Jacob, Pablo Picasso, Modigliani... Step back into the workings of its studios during these Heritage Days 2026!
SOLD OUT - Guided tour of Rozsda's studio at the Bateau-Lavoir
The space once occupied by Picasso, rebuilt after the 1970 fire, now houses the Rozsda studio, which preserves the painter’s imprint intact yet remains “haunted” by Picasso and his circle.
It is in this studio that the conference will take place, tracing the origins of Montmartre, the creation of the Bateau-Lavoir, and Picasso’s various studios. Access is by stairs, with no elevator.
Our conference will connect to the theme “Heritage at Risk: Revive, Resist, Reimagine.”
There will be one session on Saturday, September 19 at 10:00 a.m. and another on Sunday, September 20 at 10:00 a.m. (maximum 10 people per tour).
There remains the option to visit the Bateau-Lavoir from the exterior, following the “La Marelle des Arts” route.
Participation requirements: Not accessible for people with reduced mobility. To register, send the last name, first name and mobile phone number of each participant (up to 3 people).
