The Forest's Silence
A remarkable concert at the heart of the national domain of Meudon, in the Hangar Y Park inherited from André Le Nôtre
The forest’s silence becomes a concert, conceived for an outdoor setting, featuring a cello and a grand piano, blending music with a mission to protect forests. Drawing on a repertoire that spans classical works old and new, Olivia Gay traces the arc of a spruce seed — from seed to tree, then to cello. This sensory, immersive performance highlights the forest’s fragile, endangered balance, while underscoring its enduring role as a wellspring of inspiration in the history of music and the visual arts, and even as a true partner in the sense that we build instruments from the wood of trees.
Originating this project, Olivia Gay recorded the album Whisper Me A Tree (2022) with the Cannes National Orchestra and pianist Célia Oneto Bensaid.
Ambassador of the National Forest Office (ONF), Olivia Gay donates 60% of her royalties to the ONF fund - Act for the Forest, to support reforestation of a forest devastated by ink disease in Essonne.
She regularly leads related initiatives, including educational programs with conservatories and local institutions, and awareness campaigns on forest ecology.
