The perfect event for budding explorers! The Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) are held every year on the third weekend in September, and offer a wealth of fascinating discoveries. Every year, we invite you to enjoy free tours, unusual events andexceptional openings designed to help you discover our heritage from every angle.
In Paris, as in the Île-de-France region, there are many fascinating monuments and places to visit. Museums, embassies, churches, ministries, fashion houses, temples of craftsmanship and much, much more, the Paris region leads us on a quest to discover its treasures, and the offer is so vast that it's hard not to find ideas for outings that match your passions.
The next and 42nd edition is scheduled for the weekend of September 20 and 21, 2025. Why not take advantage of this opportunity to discover the Châteaux of the Île-de-France region? In the Seine-et-Marne region, the Château de Brie-Comte-Robert is unveiling its program for the Heritage Days. This fortified castle, a vestige of the Middle Ages, was built in the 12th century. Partly destroyed in the course of its history, the site is now listed asa historic monument and is still being excavated. The Château de Brie-Comte-Robert still holds many secrets from its past.
This unique tour gives you privileged access to the castle's towers, while providing a historical overview of its successive architectural modifications.
Become budding architects during a family workshop, where young and old can build together with the famous bricks!
Family workshops at the château.
The whole family can take part in a wide range of workshops: discover building materials, try your hand at stone-cutting or build real round arches.
Since 1982, the Friends of the Old Castle have been responsible for showcasing the results of archaeological research. This permanent exhibition is one of the tools used to communicate excavation findings and historical research to the general public.
Following the discovery of the built structures, the association drew up a program to restore and enhance the site, in conjunction with the chief architect of the Monuments Historiques and the commune.
The restoration work, carried out on the association's own initiative, continues on a regular basis, year after year, with international stone-cutting courses and workcamps, with the aim of restoring the château to the clarity it deserves, and making the entire site accessible and comprehensible to the public. The association's regular volunteers also come in at weekends, so you'll be able to meet them!
The church marks the starting point of a historical and architectural journey through centuries and styles.
At the heart of Brie-Comte-Robert's medieval town center are three listed buildings: the Church of Saint-Etienne, currently undergoing restoration, the Old Castle and the Hôtel-Dieu. All three have been, or are still being, restored. The town has retained its medieval layout and is also being regularly enhanced.
