Cross-cutting perspectives on radioactive heritage: a legacy that is both endangered and at risk
From laboratory notebooks to measuring instruments, some traces of the history of radioactivity remain... radioactive. At the crossroads of the history of science, conservation, and risk management, radioactive heritage has become, today, a topic of growing reflection.
This encounter offers a dialogue between Thomas Beaufils, a specialist in these singular collections, and Nicolas Benoit, an expert in radioactive-waste management. By pulling back the curtain on this little-known scientific legacy, they examine the challenges it raises: should we preserve items that carry historical value when they also pose a risk? What preservation and safety methods are applied to their uniquely hazardous nature?
Conditions of participation: Subject to availability. Open to those aged 18 and over, students - Free | No reservation required
Schedule: Sunday, September 20, 2026 — 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM
