The Château de Saint-Jean de Beauregard and its Remarkable Garden
The Château de Saint-Jean de Beauregard, located in Essonne in the Parc Naturel Régional de la Haute Vallée de Chevreuse, is a remarkably well-preserved 19th-century château classified as a historic monument. Visitors flock here to discover the grounds, and in particular the Potager, which has been awarded the Jardin Remarquable label. [Read more]
Still inhabited, the château boasts the largest dovecote in the Île-de-France region, as well as an astonishing flowering kitchen garden, unique in the world for its plant diversity. The latter has been classified as a Jardin Remarquable, a label introduced in 2004 by the French Ministry of Culture to distinguish gardens and parks of cultural interest. But these are not the only assets of this historic monument!
The Château de Saint-Jean de Beauregard represents the French art of living in the 17th century, with rooms furnished to reflect the period. Billiard room, dining room, library, summer salon, green salon... Room after room, treasures are revealed, frozen in time. Once you've completed your tour of the château, take a stroll through the formal gardens to admire the many flower beds.
