The Monumental Tour invites itself to the Château de Chambord in the Loir-et-Cher département this Friday, September 19, 2025. This new kind of sound and light show transforms the façade of the Loire's largest château into a giant screen for an unprecedented immersive experience. Michael Canitrot, French DJ-producer and creator of the concept, promises an extraordinary show combining electronic music, video mapping and an XXL light show. A great way to rediscover this jewel of the French Renaissance from a totally new angle, less than two hours' drive from Paris.
Since its launch in 2019, the Monumental Tour has already conquered such iconic landmarks as the Eiffel Tower, Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey and Notre-Dame de Paris when it reopened last December. This unique artistic concept, under the patronage of the French National Commission for UNESCO, has already attracted over 20 million viewers in France and Europe. At Chambord, the largest façade ever illuminated by the Monumental Tour will be the setting for this exceptional performance.
The event fits perfectly into the DNA of Chambord, which in 1952 became the first historic monument to host a sound and light show. "Hosting the Monumental Tour is part of this tradition of openness and innovation, offering an artistic experience that speaks to everyone," explains Pierre Dubreuil, General Manager of the Domaine national de Chambord. It's a way of bringing history into dialogue with contemporary creation, transforming the castle's architecture into a veritable living stage.
Michael Canitrot, who has been passionate about history and architecture since childhood, grew up in Seine-et-Marne before making a name for himself with his "So Happy in Paris" evenings at legendary Parisian venues. His international career took off in 2010 with a memorable concert from the top of the Eiffel Tower, heralding what was to become the Monumental Tour. His original musical creations - Light Odyssey, Icon, Change and Monumentum - add color and electronic rhythms to French and European heritage.
On the program for this exceptional evening, Michael Canitrot will be preceded by Étienne de Crécy, an emblematic figure on the French electronic scene, who will electrify the audience with a unifying set. Other electronic artists will open the evening and will be announced shortly. The show kicks off at 7.30pm and runs until 11pm, with the venue opening at 7pm. Artist collective AV-Extended will be responsible for the visual creation and video mapping projected onto the Renaissance façade.
This unprecedented performance is part of an approach based on solidarity, since part of the ticket sales revenue will contribute to the restoration of the François Ier wing, an architectural jewel whose work will last until 2026, at an estimated cost of 25 million euros. A fine way to combine artistic pleasure and heritage preservation, in the spirit of the European Heritage Days which kick off this weekend.
To reach Chambord from Paris, allow around 2 hours' drive on the A10 and then the A85. Special shuttles will also be organized from Paris and Orléans. Free parking will be available on site on the evening of the show. Fans can even arrive earlier in the afternoon to visit the château before the show and discover the recently restored formal gardens.
