For the 42nd edition of the Journées du Patrimoine, the Château de Dourdan, a fabulous Essonne treasure, unveils its program for the weekend of September 20 and 21, 2025. An opportunity to discover this sublime historic site dating back to the Middle Ages.

The Journées du Patrimoine are back again in the Paris region. Paris and the whole of theÎle-de-France region are showcasing their treasures and know-how, to the delight of the curious, who don't want to miss this opportunity synonymous with good cultural deals. Museums, monuments, institutions, ministries, churches and castles invite you to enjoy a weekend of visits, often free of charge, accompanied by programs specially designed for the occasion. Young and old, enthusiasts or amateurs, this cultural event is for everyone. The next 42nd edition is scheduled for the weekend of September 20 and 21, 2025.

It's the perfect time to conquer the treasures of the Île-de-France region and plunge into the heart of history. In Essonne (France), the Château de Dourdan is an impressive fortified castle, a vestige of the medieval era, which houses a museum and Neo-Gothic decor. Built around 1220, this monument has stood the test of time and still stands proudly in the Hurepoix region.

    Visit this temporary exhibition created to mark the 300th anniversary of Dourdan Town Hall. Enriched with objects and archives, it presents the history of this building and that of a family of "gens d'esprit", close to Parisian literary circles. The richness of Dourdan's heritage, and the town's development in the 18th century, provide the backdrop for the presentation of the history of this emblematic Dourdan landmark.
