Are you near the Vexin Français Regional Natural Park on September 19 and 20, 2026? Take advantage of Heritage Days to visit the Villarceaux estate in Chaussy.

In the French Vexin, northwest of Paris, lies an estate that many French people know... Sometimes without even knowing it. After all, the estate has been the location for many films, soap operas and documentaries. Over 1,000 films have been shot here since 1901! And that's not the only interesting fact about this location.

On September 19 and 20, 2026, to mark the new edition of the Heritage Days, visit the Villarceaux estate, in Chaussy, in the Val d'Oise. This historic monument is a compact blend of art, history and heritage, well worth the detour.

From the Hundred Years' War to the present day, the estate has seen many changes, and many events! This remarkable place is as astonishing for its architecture as for its rich natural environment, and the modern activities that continue to bring the estate to life. During the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days), the Domaine de Villarceaux offers themed tours and events, highlighting the past and present of this small corner of the Île-de-France region.

The Heritage Days 2026 program at the Villarceaux estate:

  • Guided tour of Villarceaux, from its origins to the Grand Siècle

What's hidden behind Villarceaux's walls? A medieval fief transformed into a Renaissance palace, formal gardens, grand basins—and the legendary figure of Ninon de Lenclos, the renowned courtesan and literary woman of the Grand Siècle. A tour guide invites you to step back in time, from the domain’s first lords to the splendors of the 17th century.

Participation conditions: Register by email at domainedevillarceaux@iledefrance.fr or on site at the estate’s reception, subject to availability (40 visitors per visit) - Free | Reservation required - domainedevillarceaux@iledefrance.fr

    Schedule: Saturday, September 19, 2026 — 2:00–3:30 PM, 4:00–5:30 PM | Sunday, September 20, 2026 — 2:00–3:30 PM, 4:00–5:30 PM

  • Guided tour: From the Enlightenment to today

The Château du Haut, built during Louis XV’s reign, has preserved its original décor and furnishings, a rare testament to 18th-century ways of life. A guide who is also a lecturer will lead you through three centuries of gardens: from classical designs to the 19th-century orangery, up to today's landscape sensibilities.
