Express like the time it takes, this hike is no less demanding: the Vexin Express takes you through the eponymous natural park (no less) on foot, over a period of 2 to 3 days.
What's on the agenda? Nature as far as the eye can see, panoramic views over the Seine for almost 60 kilometers and the thrill of being alone in the Vexin, on a route from Chars to Bonnières-sur-Seine. Along the way, you'll pass through Magny-en-Vexin, the pretty village of Vétheuil, catch a glimpse of the troglodyte château and the beautiful fruit and vegetable garden of La Roche-Guyon...
Where to sleep? If you're doing the hike over two days, taking an early Saturday morning train (if you're going for a weekend), it's possible to sleep at the Bergerie de Villarceaux (95), provided you bring your tent and pitch it. Otherwise, other gîtes and accommodation can be found not far from the route.
Created by Helloways, the Vexin Express doesn't have its own signposting: so to avoid getting lost, don't forget to download the guidebook and PDF directions before you set off. Chars and Bonnières-sur-Seine stations are accessible by public transport: you'll take the Transilien (line J), departing from Gare Saint-Lazare, Paris. How about a little adventure just a stone's throw from Paris?
