Heading for Belgium, and this from the Porte and the Bois de Vincennes! Indeed, along nearly 600 kilometres, a long-distance hiking trail (GR, ndlr) marked by the French Hiking Federation (FFR) invites you to discover the Val-de-Marne (94) but also the Seine-et-Marne (77), the Aisne (02), the Marne (51), the Meuse (55) and the Belgian Ardennes.
Most of the itinerary unfolds in France, linking Paris to the small town of Malmédy, nestled in the province of Liège. Along the way, hikers tread the bucolic Bois de Vincennes, where you can admire several lakes and stroll through numerous gardens, such as the Jardin d'Agronomie Tropicale with its remnants of world expositions, or the garden of the Breuil school and the Arboretum de Paris. Thereafter, the route runs through the Pays Briard and the town of Coulommiers, as well as Château-Thierry, before venturing into the Aisne department for the next legs.
As with any GR, the Grande Randonnée 14 follows the official markings of the FFR—two stripes (one red, one white)—to guide you onto the trail. To navigate the path, follow the markers; if in doubt, use the official FFR topo guide or a GPX track, available on your smartphone.
