For the Heritage Days 2026, the Philharmonie de Paris unveils its program. Inaugurated on January 14, 2015, the City of Music is a forward-looking building, our heritage for future generations: conceived by Jean Nouvel to host the Orchestra of Paris (which moved in in 2019), music workshops and the Museum of Music, the building is a fine work that has earned its place in our heritage.

This facility is located in the south-eastern part of the Parc de La Villette, on the site of the former Paris-Bestiaux railway station, closed in 1977. It features a 1400-seat concert hall, Salle Pierre Boulez, as well as a number of exhibition spaces, areas for educational workshops and rehearsal rooms.

And beyond its classical music and other concerts, the Philharmonie de Paris' reputation is built on its ultra-immersive exhibitions, which plunge you right into the heart of the subject matter, always revolving around music or a particular artist who has marked his or her generation: David Bowie, Barbara, The Velvet Underground... These are just some of the retrospectives that have made this institution such a success.

Self-guided tour of the Music Museum
As a national museum with a collection of nearly 9,000 instruments and works of art, the Music Museum sits at the heart of the Philharmonie de Paris’ daily life. It safeguards one of the world’s most important instrument collections, striking for both its rarity and its breadth.

On the occasion of European Heritage Days and the 50th anniversary of Ensemble intercontemporain, the Musée de la musique invites you to a unique sonic journey made of concerts and musical strolls.

Let yourself be surprised by the sonic experiments centered on the double bass, the electric guitar and the theremin, revealing unexpected facets of these instruments.

Sunday morning, the soloists of Ensemble intercontemporain bring contemporary works to life in dialogue with centuries of musical history. Moving from one floor to another in the museum, Elliott Carter’s spirit meets the Baroque, Franco Donatoni and Alexandros Markeas rework classical legacies, while Enno Poppe, Garth Knox, Béla Bartók or Thierry de Mey remind us how traditional musics from around the world continue to feed contemporary creation.
