Do you dream of having a fur ball at home? A cat that snuggles up to you as you fall asleep? A dog that runs beside you while you jog? Or even a new pet? The animal who will be sharing your home and your life tomorrow may be at the SPA. On Saturday May 4 and Sunday May 5, 2024, the Société Protectrice des Animaux will be opening the doors of its 64 shelters and Maisons SPA throughout France for the return of its"open days " to encourage responsible adoption.
During this"adoption open house" weekend, some 6,000 animals (dogs, cats and new pets) are waiting to be adopted .
To mark the occasion of this new " open house", the SPA is launching its new campaign, the first to be created by children. The animal protection association asked children to imagine the posters for this event, by telling their stories with their dog, cat or NAC.
" By entrusting the realization of this campaign to children, we wanted to send a positive message to show that we can trust new generations to respect animals. We hope that thanks to this bold campaign, many of our current 6,000 boarders will find responsible families during these Portes Ouvertes," says Jacques-Charles Fombonne, president of the SPA, in a press release published on April 15.
These two new "open days " are an opportunity to meet the animals up for adoption, as well as the team of volunteers and salaried staff, and the youth club. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have: how to become a volunteer, foster, adopt, help, donate...
In addition, the conditions for adopting an animal have changed since October 2022. " The future adopter must now complete and sign a certificate of commitment at least seven days before going to the shelter and adopting an animal," reminds the SPA, which specifies that he or she must therefore present it to the shelter on the day of adoption.
