Transport in Paris and the Île-de-France region: summer 2023 works on the metro, RER and Transilien lines

As is the case every summer, public transport in Paris and the Île-de-France region will be disrupted by major modernization work. Unfortunately for users, this work will affect not only the metro, but also the RER and Transilien trains. Find out more about the detailed schedule and dates of the work scheduled for July and August 2023 on the RATP and SNCF networks.

Planning to stay in Paris this summer? Then the following information applies to you. Here are the dates of the work and disruptions scheduled for public transport in the Paris region this summer. Metro, RER, Transilien... construction work will be everywhere, disrupting your daily commute during July and August. Here are the details of the work scheduled for summer 2023 on public transport in Paris and the Ile-de-France region:

Summer 2023 work on the Paris metro

LINE 4

Due to construction work, line 4 will be closed on several occasions this summer:

  • from 10:15pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays until July 20 (except July 13), as well as on August 30 and 31
  • Sunday July 23 until 12 noon
  • all day between Porte de Clignancourt and Barbès-Rochechouart, from August 12 to 17, 2023

LINE 5

LINE 6

Users of line 6 of the Paris metro will have to adapt. Due to modernization work, traffic will be partially interrupted from Thursday November 2 to Monday November 6, 2023 inclusive, right in the middle of the All Saints' Day vacation period. LINE 7

Be careful if you're used to taking line 7. RATP is announcing upcoming disruptions on the famous pink line of the Paris metro. From Monday May 6 to Sunday May 12, 2024 inclusive, traffic will be interrupted between La Courneuve - 8 Mai 1945 and Gare de l'Est stations. [Read more]


LINE 11

Due to the extension to the east and the testing of new trains, traffic will be interrupted on the whole of line 11 until Thursday September 28, 2023, from Tuesday to Thursday from 10pm.

Traffic will also be interrupted on July 9 on the entire line due to construction work.


LINE 12

RER A

RER D

Weekday work

Axis 1: CREIL <> PARIS GARE DE LYON :

  • In July:
    • From Monday July 3 to Monday July 31 (except Friday July 14), every evening from Monday to Friday, no trains run between Paris and Creil in either direction from 11.20pm. Buses will leave from Saint-Denis Université (Metro line 13).

  • In August :
    • From Tuesday August 1 to Thursday August 31 (except Tuesday August 15), every evening from Monday to Friday, traffic is interrupted between Paris and Creil in both directions from 11.20pm. Buses will be provided from Saint-Denis Université (Metro line 13).


Axis 2: PARIS GARE DU NORD <> MELUN :

  • In July:
    • From Monday July 3 to Monday July 31, every evening from Monday to Friday, no trains between Paris and Melun in both directions from 10:00 pm. Buses will be provided.

  • August:
    • From Tuesday August 1st to Thursday August 31st, every evening from Monday to Friday, there will be no trains between Paris and Melun in either direction from 10:00 pm. Buses will also be provided.


Axis 3: PARIS GARE DU NORD <> CORBEIL ESSONNES via Évry Courcouronnes :

  • In July:
    • From Monday July 3 to Monday July 31, every evening from Monday to Friday, no trains run between Paris and Corbeil Essonnes via Évry Courcouronnes in both directions from 10:00 pm. Buses will be provided.

  • August:
    • From Tuesday August 1st to Thursday August 31st, every evening from Monday to Friday, no trains between Paris and Corbeil Essonnes in both directions from 10:00 pm. Buses will be provided.


Weekend work

Axis 1: CREIL <> PARIS GARE DE LYON :

  • In August:
    • On Saturday August 19 from 10:00 pm to the end of service, and from Saturday August 26 at 10:00 pm to Sunday August 27 at 8:50 am, trains run between Paris Nord Surface and Creil, but do not serve Stade de France station in either direction. Trains on line D to the south originate/terminate at Paris Gare de Lyon. Châtelet les Halles station is not served. Buses are therefore provided between Stade de France and Saint Denis.


Axis 2: PARIS GARE DU NORD <> MELUN :

  • In August:
    • On Saturday August 19, from 10:00 pm to the end of service, and from Saturday August 26 at 10:00 pm to Sunday August 27 at 8:50 am, trains originate/terminate at Paris Gare de Lyon. Châtelet les Halles station is not served.

RER E

Work is scheduled on the Haussmann Saint-Lazare <> Villiers/Tournan line:

  • Friday July 14
    • Tournan axis closed all day
    • Trains replaced by buses Villiers-sur-Marne <> Tournan
    • Villiers-sur-Marne axis closed from 10:30pm

  • Saturdays and Sundays July 15-16 and July 22-23
    • Tournan line closed all day
    • Trains replaced by buses Villiers-sur-Marne <> Tournan
    • Villiers-sur-Marne closed from 10:30pm

Summer works 2023 on the Transilien network

LINE H

Please note that modernization work will take place throughout the summer at Valmondois, with the following consequences:

  • August 5 and 6: traffic is interrupted between Ermont-Eaubonne - Valmondois and Pontoise - Persan Beaumont stations. A replacement bus service will be provided.

LINE J

A series of works will disrupt traffic on line J this summer:

  • From July 10 to August 13: no trains between Epône Mézières and Mantes-la-Jolie stations. A replacement bus service will run between these stations.
  • July 8 and 9: closure between Paris St Lazare and Mantes. Replacement buses and regular line reinforcements are announced.
  • August 5 and 6 - August 19 and 20 - August 26 and 27: no trains between Les Mureaux and Mantes-la-Jolie stations. A replacement bus service will be provided between these stations, as well as reinforcements on regular bus routes.
  • July 8 and 9 and August 12 and 13: traffic disrupted between Issou Porcheville and Mantes-la-Jolie stations. A replacement bus service is in place.
  • August 12 and 13 - August 19 and 20 - August 26 and 27: no trains between Paris Saint-Lazare Saint-Cloud / Garches - Marnes la Coquette. A replacement bus service has been announced.


LINE K

Throughout the summer, infrastructure renewal work will be carried out on the K line, with several disruptions announced:

  • From July 8 to August 14: traffic will be interrupted between Paris gare du Nord and Mitry-Claye. Passengers are invited to transfer to RER B. Shuttle trains will run between Mitry-Claye and Crépy-en-Valois.


LINE L

Also on this Transilien line, work is scheduled for this summer, with the following consequences:

  • From August 5 to 20: no trains between Maisons Laffitte and Cergy-le-Haut stations. A replacement bus service will be provided between these stations, along with reinforcements on regular bus routes.
  • July 15 and 16, July 22 and 23 and July 29 and 30: Cergy Préfecture station will not be served in either direction. Passengers are therefore invited to use regular bus services.


LINE N

For more than a month, work will cause disruption on the Transilien N line:

  • From July 8 to August 13: traffic will be interrupted between Plaisir Grignon and Mantes-la-Jolie stations. Île-de-France Mobilités has announced the introduction of a replacement bus service.


LINE P

Transilien line P is also affected by the summer work schedule:

  • From July 15 to August 27: no trains between Meaux and La Ferté Milon stations. A replacement bus service will run between these stations.
  • July 14, 15 and 16: no trains on the Coulommiers and Provins branches. Here too, an alternative bus service will be provided.
  • From July 3 to August 27: Nangis station is not served. A replacement bus service will be provided.


LIGNE U

  • August 12 and 13, August 19 and 20, and August 26 and 27: traffic disrupted between La Défense and Suresnes stations. A replacement bus service will be provided.
