RATP is announcing further work on the Paris metro this spring. On line 5, traffic will be partially interrupted throughout the Easter weekend, between the Bobigny Pablo Picasso and Jaurès stations. So, what are the alternatives? We tell you all about it.

Work continues on public transport systems in Paris and the Ile-de-France region this spring. While disruptions are expected on the RER C, the metro is not spared either. This includes the major worksite on line 14, which will extend the line to Orly airport station. This work will have an impact on the daily lives of passengers.

Other disruptions to be expected? On metro line 5, which runs between Place d'Italie and Bobigny, traffic will be partially interrupted over the Easter weekend. In detail, metro line 5 is " closed between the Bobigny Pablo Picasso and Jaurès stations from March 30 to April 1, 2024 inclusive ", announces RATP on its website.

In concrete terms, during these three days of partial closure (Saturday March 30, Sunday March 31 and Monday April 1, 2024), 7 stations on this metro line 5 will be completely closed to passengers. These are Laumière, Ourcq, Porte de Pantin, Hoche, Église de Pantin, Bobigny-Pantin Raymond Queneau and Bobigny - Pablo Picasso stations. As for the Jaurès station, which connects with lines 2 and 7bis, it will be the temporary terminus for the duration of the work.

So how do you get between Bobigny Pablo Picasso and Jaurès during these 3 days of partial closure? There are several possible solutions, starting with walking. But beware: it all depends on how far you have to walk. For example, you'll need to walk for around twenty minutes between the Jaurès and Pantin stations. But you'll need to walk for a little over an hour to Bobigny Pablo Picasso. RATP is therefore announcing the introduction of a replacement bus during the three days of partial closure. These replacement buses will serve the closed stations in both directions.

If you prefer to stay underground, you can take line 7 to Stalingrad, which runs to La Courneuve.

Gare d'Austerlitz station on line 5 is closed until Wednesday April 17, 2024 inclusive, due to construction work. However, metro line 10 and RER line C are operating normally and remain accessible.
