Due to the arrival of storm Herminia and high winds, several towns in the Paris region have decided to close their green spaces this Monday, January 27, 2025. Find out which towns in the Paris region are affected.

The Paris region is not immune to storms. WhenÎle-de-France is placed under vigilance due to thunderstorms and high winds, precautions must be taken! Whether you're on foot or in a vehicle, we strongly recommend that you limit your movements and avoid woods and forests, as gusts of wind can cause trees to fall, as well as the risk of lightning strikes during thunderstorms.

Depending on the situation, local authorities may decide to close their green spaces to the public for safety reasons, pending the end of the storm warning. Parks, gardens and cemeteries may become inaccessible during these periods. Riverside towns may also restrict access to their banks, given the risk of high water and flooding caused by heavy rainfall.

As storm Herminia continues to roll across France, Paris and the Île-de-France region are experiencing wind gusts of up to 75 km/h this Monday, January 27, 2025. In response to this situation, a number of preventive measures have been announced, including the closure of parks and gardens in the capital and several surrounding communes.

Closures and restrictions

Placed under yellow vigilance by Météo France since Saturday January 25, the Île-de-France region is now seeing the brunt of the windy episode. In Paris, the city hall has confirmed the immediate closure of its green spaces and cemeteries "due to the strong winds". The situation is similar in other communes such as :

  • The parks and gardens of the Grand Paris Seine Ouest area, which includes Boulogne-Billancourt, Chaville, Issy-les-Moulineaux, Marnes-la-Coquette, Meudon, Sèvres, Vanves and Ville-d'Avray, are closed.

  • Clichy-la-Garenne, for its part, has secured its quays by ordering their temporary closure, as have Parc Monod and the installations on the banks of the Seine, made dangerous by slippery ground.

This capricious weather is accompanied by a drop in temperatures, hovering between 8°C and 10°C this Monday, while gusts close to 65 km/h are expected to persist tomorrow, Tuesday January 28, 2025.

Vigilance for thunderstorms and lulls from Wednesday onwards

Conditions will remain unsettled on Tuesday, with Météo France issuing a yellow alert for thunderstorms. According to forecasts, the morning will be marked by frequent showers and winds of up to 65 km/h. From Wednesday January 29 onwards, a relative improvement is expected, with a significant drop in winds, although rain will continue to fall. Precipitation of around 9 mm is expected in the afternoon, with temperatures between 5°C and 9°C.

The public is urged to exercise caution in the face of these weather conditions, and in particular to avoid moving near trees and fragile structures. Specific instructions are available on the websites of town halls and Météo France.
