While the government confirmed daytime trip restrictions will be lifted from May 3, many French people are now wishing to know when will cultural places and terraces reopen. At the end of the Ministerial Council this April 28, Jean Castex announced Emmanuel Macron will speak this Friday April 30 to present the "prospects" of the new lockdown exit.

When will museums, movie theaters, and show venues reopen? So far, no exact date to reopen these cultural places nor the very health protocol considered by the executive are known. But cultural places are reportedly to reopen from “mid-May”. And according to AFP, “gauges could vary depending on territories, with a threshold set to 35% that could change depending on the level of the virus’ circulation”. Yet, once again, this reopening will depend on the evolution of the health situation in France.

This April 28, after the Ministerial Council, Jean Castex announced Emmanuel Macron will speak this Friday April 30, 2021. He will address the French to present "a progressive and phased strategy" to ease the health restrictions currently on to curb the Covid-19 epidemic in France. We still have to find out if this address will be a televised interview or a solemn address.

According to France Info, this lockdown exit plan is to revolve around several steps and take place until July. Local-based talks are also suggested to get a detailed plan by May 12. For the record, curfew is also to be eased by mid-May.

Invited on BFMTV this April 23, Roselyne Bachelot said President Macron was to speak very soon. “We’re ready, we’ve come up with protocols. The French President is to speak very soon, probably next week, and will give the go-ahead”, Bachelot claimed, confirming the French President was to address the people again very soon.

Still on BFMTV, the Minister of culture stated the reopening of these cultural places will be “progressive”. She stated: “I deeply wish all cultural places to reopen. The reopening will take place in a progressive fashion in strict compliance with protective measures” such as “progressive gauges depending on the health situation”.

Bachelot also gave her mind as for the likely implementation of a health pass to access cultural places. “If this is the condition to reopen cultural places, I think I’d make a concession on my principles. But conditioning admission within a cultural place with a health pass, I confess I cannot wrap my head around it…”, she claimed.
